Belkyra™ is an injectable drug that can reduce submental (under the chin) fat, redefine your jawline, and minimize neck fullness. This can effectively eliminate fat in these areas without surgery. Belkyra™ consists of a form of deoxycholic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies.
The active ingredient in Belkyra® is synthethic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Belkyra® destroys fat cells, and once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Your Dermatologist will create a tailored treatment plan based on your unique profile. At each treatment, you will be given multiple small injections in the chin and/or jawline region. You may receive up to 6 treatment sessions, spaced at a minimum 1 month apart. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 Belkyra® treatments.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area.
HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?
When injected into fat under the chin, Belkyra® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. The destruction of the those fat cells are therefore permanent.
